"Labour's Tip plan is rubbish"

Labour's recycling centre changes would restrict your number tip of visits per year, make you book an appointment, bring ID and ban bags of "mixed waste".

Household waste recycling centre

Liberal Democrats are fighting against plans that will restrict your access to local recycling centres, including Otterspool.

The plans by Merseyside Labour councillors would force you to book in advance to visit the tip, require you to show ID, and limit your number of visits each year. You would also be banned from taking bags of “mixed waste.”

Liberal Democrat councillors have opposed the changes, warning it will lead to increased fly-tipping, including by unlicensed “Man+Van” services who illegally dump waste to avoid tip fees.

We need to make it easier, not harder, to dispose of waste responsibly.

Liverpool Council already spends £1Million a year cleaning up fly-tipping. That bill will increase if these plans go ahead.

I/we, the undersigned, oppose Labour's plans to introduce a tip-booking system and cap the number of visits that people can make in a year because we want a cleaner city.
