It’s official: Liverpool has the worst roads in England

Liverpool has been judged to have the worst roads in England, according to a Department for Transport study.
Less than half of the city’s A roads are judged to be in good condition, while only 1 in 3 local B & C roads are of an acceptable standard.
1 in 10 A roads and 1 in 7 B & C roads are in dire need of maintenance.
The revelation won’t come as a surprise to our city’s motorists and cyclists, who endure potholed and poorly patched up roads every day.
£70 Million wasted
While most roads have been neglected, Labour councillors have thrown away £70 Million on poorly planned City Centre road works on The Strand and Lime Street that nobody wanted.
This is costing £311 for every Council Tax payer in Liverpool, even though the council’s own consultation found that 72% of Scousers were against the scheme.
The council ignored warning from residents, businesses, and Liberal Democrat opposition councillors.
“Imagine if this money had been spent on making local roads and junctions safer,” says West Derby Liberal Democrat Norman Mills.
“Labour councillors have the wrong priorities & simply don’t bother listening to local people.”
