A series of shocking mistakes by Labour Council Bosses have left the city with a massive bill.

After forgetting (for 7 months) to renew a contract for fixed price gas and electricity, the Labour council discovered they were stuck on a variable tariff… resulting in a 500% increase in bills.

This will cost the city £16 Million, or £147 extra on YOUR Council Tax bill.

“In 2021 everyone knew energy bills were about to rocket,” says Liverpool Lib Dem leader Richard Kemp. “Instead of immediately renewing the fixed rate deal contract with Scottish Power, Labour Council bosses dragged their feet for 7 months until the offer expired.”

“While households are trying to watch every penny, this council is pouring our money down the drain.”

Since this fiasco was uncovered, the council managed to bungle several more £Multi-Million contracts.

When challenged by opposition Lib Dem councillors, Labour council bosses were forced to admit they had only just started drawing up a central database of all the council’s contracts & renewal dates… which would take 9 months to complete.

150 Liverpool schools could be forced to cut teachers and classroom assistants as a result of Labour’s electricity fiasco.

Schools trusted Liverpool City Council to negotiate their energy bills, are now being forced to find an extra £4 Million thanks to the mistakes of Labour council bosses.

Angry headteachers said they now have no confidence in the council’s promises - one city primary school saw bills rise from £47,000 to £312,000.

Lib Dem councillor Mirna Juarez said, “Our children and teachers have been betrayed by Labour councillors. Instead of making excuses, they should compensate schools for this council cock-up.”
