Last year Liverpool City Council asked the government for £4 Million to end rough sleeping in Liverpool.

A converted student block would become a “homeless recovery centre” with 60 en-suite bedrooms and 40 one bed apartments.

Labour councillors have now changed their mind, and handed the £4 Million back to the Tory Government.

One Labour councillor admitted the council had let our city’s homeless down. And local homeless charities have condemned the council’s actions as a, "Kick in the teeth."

Allerton & Hunts Cross Lib Dem councillor Mirna Juarez said, “This is a huge let down for Liverpool by the council.”

“Despite our differences, Liberal Democrats have repeatedly stood alongside Labour to demand more cash for our city,”

It becomes harder to ask for money when Labour keep giving it back to the Tories. It is especially shameful when that money was meant for the most vulnerable in our city.”
