Save Wavertree Job Centre

Local Liberal Democrats are leading opposition to plans to shut Wavertree Job Centre on High Street.

Edge Hill Job Centre is also set to close, and Wavertree residents will be told to travel 3 miles to Toxteth instead.

Officials claim that a 3 mile journey is ‘acceptable’, but this will be just another blow to many struggling local families across our community,” says Joe Harmer.

Move it into the One-Stop Shop

The council and DWP have just agreed to merge the Job Centre in town into the new council One-Stop-Shop opening in St John’s Market.
If it’s good enough for the city centre - why can’t Wavertree have the same?

The council is planning massive cuts to local One Stop shops, that could result in the closure of Wavertree. A merger with the Job Centre could save both facilities.

Back the campaign

I/we the undersigned oppose plans to make Wavertree residents travel to Toxteth Job Centre. We call on the DWP and Liverpool Council to work together to keep a facility in our area.
