Wavertree needs a hard working MP, committed to fighting
for local people.
Only the Liberal Democrats can beat Labour in Liverpool
Wavertree.
The Tories always come a poor third and have long since given up on
being a serious challenger to Labour.
|
Local people say, "We need someone to fight
for us!"
 |
Who is Wavertree's MP anyway?
|
Not a lot of people know this, but Jane Kennedy
(pictured left) is the current Labour MP for the Wavertree
constituency.
Although she has been an MP for over 10 years, most people in
Wavertree have never seen or heard of her.
Some local residents have even dubbed her "the invisible MP"
because of her absence (except of course at election time), and
disillusioned Labour voters are increasingly turning to the Liberal
Democrats.
"Meanwhile in Westminster, she has one of the poorest
records of participation in the House of Commons." says Colin.

The best MP our area ever had!
|
While many Wavertree residents are unable to name their
current MP, most still have fond memories of their last Liberal
Democrat MP, David (now Lord) Alton.
As MP for Liverpool Edge Hill (1979-83) and Liverpool Mossley Hill
(1983-1997) David Alton developed a reputation for working
tirelessly for local people.
As local people used to say, "everybody knows somebody who
has been helped by David Alton".
It's time Liverpool had a Liberal Democrat MP who will fight for
local people. |

Can the Lib Dems win in Wavertree?
|
The answer is definitely yes!
At the local elections the Liberal Democrats won more votes than
Labour and the Tories combined, and have won every council
seat in the constituency.
The Liberal Democrats need just a 19.2% swing to beat Labour (in
1979 David Alton managed to beat Labour with a swing of 32.4%)
A recent poll for The Times shows that the key group of
voters will decide the next election are turning away from Labour
and supporting the Liberal Democrats.
The Lib Dems are now neck and neck with Labour on 38% each, with
floating voters who normally decide who wins the General Election.
Meanwhile, the poll of 1,001 adults also showed that the Tories
have little support with just 14% of floating voters.
Liverpool Wavertree is being tipped as a key seat by
election experts who are predicting a close battle between the
Liberal Democrats and Labour.
