Liverpool's Lib Dem Council gives out millions of pounds each year to assist community & voluntary groups in the city deliver projects for local people, but many groups miss out on funding because they don't know of all the organisations and funds they can apply to.

The Council has produced the following fact sheet to help community groups find their way through the maze of funding.

BBC's Children in Need Programme.  Grants are available for organisations that work with disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. Grants ranged from £4,000 - £900,000 in 2005. The deadline for the latest funding round is 30th November.  Check the website for information about future rounds.

Liverpool Youth Service is administering a pot of money given by the Government to local councils to pay for activities and facilities for young people in the area. If you are aged between 13 and 19 you are eligible to bid in for the money to buy things you would like to have throughout your area or things to do for yourself and other young people in your area.  Applications must be made by young people aged between 13 and 19 years and must be for projects benefiting the majority of young people aged 13 to 19 in a community.

Norwich Union's Community Stars programme is designed to support projects in the local communities where Norwich Union has its largest offices, including Liverpool. Norwich Union takes it responsibilities as a corporate citizen seriously and, as they have an impact on the communities in which they are based, we are committed to this local support. The Liverpool branch of Norwich Union is looking to support specific projects led by registered charities in the local area. They have a regional budget, and a local panel which meets quarterly to decide which projects to support and with how much.

The LCVS Grants Team is administering the Cleaner, Safer, Greener Community Fund for 2006/07. This is a small grants programme for voluntary and community sector groups and is aimed at capital projects based in eligible Super Output Areas in Liverpool (You will be able to check whether you are based in one of these areas via a link on the website).
Decisions on funding will be made by local panels in each of the Neighbourhood Management Areas andLCVS are hoping to run the first panels in September.
