A RECORD-BREAKING number of Liverpool's parks and gardens are raising the green standard.
Eleven of the city's green spaces will be hoisting the national Green Flag after being awarded the prestigious accolade. The Green Flag is the national standard for parks and gardens in England and Wales and is awarded on an annual basis. The Lib Dem Council's executive member for the environment and heritage, Councillor Berni Turner, said: "We put forward eleven parks for the award, so to have a 100 per cent success rate is wonderful news. "The Green Flag highlights the best of the best when it comes to green spaces and I'm not surprised Liverpool has one of the highest number of flags in the UK. "This accolade is a real credit to the city council's gardening service, our partners, friends groups and the community. "Hundreds of thousands of people spend time in our parks every year as they're the prefect place to relax, keep fit or spend quality time with friends or family. These awards show why our green havens are so popular." Liverpool's eleven winners are:
