LABOUR’S CALL TO DIVERT £200 MILLION FROM CRUCIAL ROAD LINK WILL COST US JOBS

Leader of Liverpool City Council Warren Bradley has condemned Labour’s call to halt the Port of Liverpool Road Access plan in favour of the tram scheme.

Even if the £200 million funding was diverted to be spent on the trams, it still leaves a huge shortfall of around £250 million, which Liverpool Labour have failed to address where they will secure the funding for.

Commenting on this, Leader Warren Bradley said:

“This recent call from the Labour Party in Liverpool is truly madness. Not only do the figures not add up, but there has been a real lack of consideration about this crucial project not going ahead.

“If the Port of Liverpool road access plan does not go ahead then this will have a serious impact on our City Region, in terms of attracting new businesses and creating and sustaining jobs for local people. To scrap this would be letting local people and businesses down, and putting the economic wellbeing of Liverpool and the surrounding area in jeopardy.

“I would urge Councillor Anderson to think through his policy stances before shooting from the hip as per usual.”
