It’s official: Michael Howard’s Conservative Party are already out of the race to win in Liverpool at the next General Election. A Tory Party Chairman admitted to the Echo that they have no chance of winning MPs in Liverpool at the next election and claimed the local party was " Virtually Defunct" . Meanwhile the local Conservative Club may even have to be put up for auction! A Civil War waging amongst Liverpool's Conservatives has now become public after members spoke to the Daily Post. It is reported that the Chair of Garston Conservatives had to order bailiffs into the Churchill Conservative Club in Wavertree, claiming it owes £20,000 rent. Quote from the Daily Post: " A Daily Post investigation has uncovered a party ripped apart by internal infighting over the last decade, a party which has lost hundreds of members and a party struggling to even find enough people to stand in local elections." Local Conservatives are also outraged at plans for North West Tory HQ in Bolton to pick candidates for the Liverpool constituencies, instead of trusting local parties! Meanwhile the Liberal Democrats are the only growing party in Liverpool and need just a 19% swing to oust Wavertree’s New Labour MP! Colin Eldridge commented, " The Tories have given up, and even admited they could loose their deposit at the next election. The message is clear - a Tory vote is a wasted vote in Liverpool."
