Lib Dem action on crime
Liberal Democrat run Liverpool Council is to spend an extra £2.4million to make our streets safer.

Liberal Democrat run Liverpool Council is to
spend an extra £2.4million to make our streets safer.

Former Police Officer and local Liberal Democrat Councillor Dave Irving has welcomed the news.

He said, “Everywhere I go local people tell me how concerned they are about crime and anti-social behaviour on our streets. That’s why cutting crime is a top priority for the Lib Dem council.”

Under the Lib Dem initiative the extra money will go to Merseyside Police to make Liverpool’s streets safer.

But it’s not all good news on crime. In a shocking move the Labour Government has slashed Liverpool’s crime and safety fund in half.

Liverpool newspapers and Liverpool residents have condemned Labour’s cuts.

Cllr Dave Irving said, “Once again Labour have shown their true colours on crime. They talk tough but fail to deliver.”

Council success

Since the Lib Dems took control of Liverpool, big steps have been taken to cut crime.

The Council’s trailblazing scheme to install 5000 alleygates has reduced domestic burglary by an incredible 37%.

But it’s schemes like this that are now under threat from Labour’s cuts to crime and safety funding.

Cllr Dave Irving added, “We will be fighting to get the best deal for local people and to further cut crime in the city.”

“There’s much more that needs doing and a Lib Dem council will continue to make this a top priority.”
