| Happy New Year |
|
2008 is the year we put the pride back in our great CityLiverpool's year as European Capital of Culture is set to be an amazing year. here are going to be hundreds of events generating thousands of visitors to the city leading to a tourism boom. Everyone will have their own personal highlight, but events like the MTV Music Awards will really put Liverpool on the world stage. But the real legacy will be if we can transform Liverpool’s image. 2008 also sees the opening of the new conference centre & arena, the Liverpool One shopping development and a Olympic sized swimming pool in Wavertree. Colin Eldridge said, "In 1998 when the Liberal Democrats took control of Liverpool City Council after years of chaos under Labour, we promised to make Liverpool a premier European City.” “Few believed we could make so much in such a short time, and the next few years could be even greater." "Labour refused to provide the same level of resources they provided for Manchester for the Commonwealth Games. Instead they use every opportunity to play politics. They seem more interested in the success of the Labour party rather than the success of Liverpool!"
