25 Million at risk of fraud

Data fiasco highlights case against ID cardsID Cards

Wavertree’s Labour MP & Government Minister, Jane Kennedy was forced to defend the loss of two CDs with 25 million child benefit records, after her bungling officials send them in the post.

10,000’s of Liverpool families have been put at risk of  identity fraud, with experts warning that personal details of local parents and children may already have fallen into the hands of criminals.

Labour’s child  benefit data  disaster shows why plans for ID Cards must be scrapped, say local Liberal Democrats.

Colin Eldridge has written to Ms Kennedy urging her to withdraw her support for the ID card scheme and National Identity Register in which the Government want to store personal information about everyone in the country.

Jane KennedyThe fiasco in Jane Kennedy’s Ministry has shown the dangers of letting Governments hold huge amounts of    Information about each one of us,” said Colin.

“This whole saga of incompetence has been shocking and local families are now rightly asking if their personal details are safe.

“Labour’s National Identity Register, would hold vastly more of our personal information than Labour have already managed to lose.

“And each of us would be forced to pay £93 to buy an ID card.”

Liberal Democrats have long argued we could have 1000’s of extra police on our streets for the cost of introducing ID cards.
