Liberal Democrat campaigners in Wavertree are now waiting for a verdict on local offices closures
Liberal Democrat campaigners in Wavertree are now waiting for a verdict from the post office about whether or not local offices will be reprieved. The consultation period ended today (2 March) and all the final comments and petitions have been sent off, both to the Post Office and to the consumers organisation Postwatch. Says Parliamentary Spokesperson Colin Eldridge: " We have met the post office, spoken to Postwatch and collected signatures from hundreds of local people in each location. Its really clear that people here want to keep their post offices open. We now hope the Post Office, and the Labour government, will listen to what we are saying and find ways of saving this vital service" If the decision does go in favour of closure, local people will start losing these facilities in April.
