The Liberal Democrats have called on local MPs to help stop the Post office closures
Wavertree Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson Colin Eldridge has called on local Labour MP, Jane Kennedy to stop the Post Office closures in Wavertree. Commenting on shocking Government proposals to close 6 local post offices in the Wavertree constituency Colin said, “Wavertree has more Post Offices closes than any other part of Liverpool. Jane Kennedy MP has a powerful position to act as a Minister. Local people deserve action now!” He added, “The local Post Office is an essential part of the community and provides an excellent service for many local people, especially older people. These Government cuts will leave many people having to travel several miles to get to a post office”. Liverpool City Council leader and Wavertree councillor Mike Storey has added his support, “Liverpool deserves better. We has a high proportion of OAP’s who rely on the Post Office and the number of closures in Wavertree is an insult!” The 6 post offices faced with closure are; Edge Lane, Derby Lane, Holt Road, Wavertree, Knotty Ash and Picton Road. Local people have 4 weeks to comment on the proposals. For more information or to join the campaign against the closures please contact Colin Eldridge on 734 2152. ENDS
