Constituencies

 

 All 5 constituencies in Liverpool are represented by Labour MP's (for the moment) with the Liberal Democrats as the main challenger.

The Liberal Democrats control Liverpool with 46 out of 90 Councillors, including 15 out of 18 in Wavertree, 9 out of 15 in Garston (excluding  Halewood which is not in Liverpool), 7 in Riverside, 6 in Walton and 9 in West Derby.

Liverpool is also part of the North West Euro-Constituency, and is represented by Lib Dem MEP Chris Davies (a former Liverpool Councillor).

 N.B. maps, facts, & figures are based on the new constituency boundaries that will come into effect at the next General Election.

 

 

 

 

 


Wavertree Constituency

Wavertree parliamentary constituencies in Liverpool and is represented (for the moment) by the Labour MP Jane Kennedy with the Liberal Democrats as the only serious challenger.

Wavertree is one of the more affluent parts of Liverpool, including much of the former Mossley Hill Constituency, which until boundary changes in 1997 was represented by the Liberal Democrat MP, David Alton.

The Wavertree Constituency contains 6 Council wards, Wavertree, Childwall, Church, Kensington & Fairfield, Old Swan, and Picton and all of these wards are represented by Liberal Democrat Councillors.

The Lib Dems currently have 15 Councillors in Wavertree constituency.

Garston & Halewood Constituency

The Garston & Halewood Constituency is in the South of the city.

It is currently held by the Labour MP Maria Eagle, with the Liberal Democrats in second place. 

Following boundry changes, the constituency will also include Halewood, which is part of the Knowsley borough (not shown on this map)

The Liberal Democrats have 9  councillors in the part of the constituency that is in Liverpool and 5 in Halewood.

Riverside Constituency

Riverside is one of five parliamentary constituencies in Liverpool and is represented (for the moment) by Labour MP Louise Ellman with the Liberal Democrats in second place as the only serious challenger.

The constituency is mostly made up of inner city districts such as Kirkdale, Dingle,  and Toxteth. It also includes the City Centre and the more affluent suburbs of Aigburth and St Michaels.

Boundry changes have removed Everton Ward from the constituency.

Walton Constituency

Walton parliamentary constituency is in the North of Liverpool and  is currently represented by the Labour MP Peter Kilfoyle with the Liberal Democrats in second place.

The constituency includes Anfield and Everton football clubs. 

The Liberal Democrats have 6 Councillors in Walton, in the wards of Warbreck, County, & Anfield.

West Derby Constituency

 The West Derby Constituency is in the North East of Liverpool and includes the historic village of West Derby and Croxteth Hall.

It is currently represented by Labour MP Bob Warring, with the Liberal Democrats in second place.

Boundry changes will lead to Knotty Ash Ward being placed in the constituency (from Wavertree) while Clubmoor will be moved to Walton.

The Liberal Democrats have 9 councillors in West Derby, in the wards of Yew Tree, West Derby, Croxteth and Knotty Ash.
